Steve Ottewill

Steve Ottewill - Partner & Silversmith

We would like to tell you a little about our history, and ourselves where better to start than by introducing Steven Ottewill, who has been a silversmith for over twenty years operating from the Evegate Craft Centre since 1992, during that time has built up a team of some of the finest silversmiths and jewellers in the country.  As well as training his own apprentices he also teaches new craftsman coming into the industry at The London Metropolitan University, having also lectured at the Kent Institute of Art & Design for five years. Trustee of The Kent Foundation which works closely with The Princes Trust helping new entrepreneurs setting up new businesses. Has achieved eleven individual awards for outstanding craftsmanship & design at The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths annual awards.

David Mowl


David Mowl – Partner,  Costings & Production

Dave joined the business in 2007 to oversee the cost management and production. He has a long history in finance and the IT industry having run his own business for over twenty years. He brings to the silversmithing industry a wealth of knowledge in the new technologies area and aims to modernise a traditional business. Dave would be happy to discuss any aspects of job costings, production and deliveries with you.

Matthew Workman


Matthew Workman – Diamond Mounter

Matt Workman is responsible for our team of jewellers, working with our clients creating, designing and manufacturing bespoke individual pieces. Matt also teaches jewellery design and manufacture to both established and newcomers to the industry. Having completed a traditional apprenticeship fifteen years ago, he has manufactured for a number of Bond Street Jewellers before joining our team in 2004.

Stuart Ray


Stuart Ray – Silver Spinner

Stuart Ray with seventeen years experience in the forming of hollowware vessels, using the specialised skill of metal spinning that dates back to Egyptian times. He has worked with some of the most prestigious shops, designers and craftsman in the silver industry making pieces from tea sets to major sporting trophies.

Robert Russell


Robert Russell – Senior Silversmith

Rob was Steven Ottewill’s original apprentice and has worked closely with him over the past ten years developing into a highly skilled Silversmith, from model making through to the most complex hand raised vessels. Manufacturing silverware including ecclesiastical processional crosses, wands, swords and major sporting trophies.
