Ecclesiastical Silverware

Manufacturers of Award Winning Silverware since 1993

At Ottewill we have a wealth of experience in the design and manufacture, as well as the restoration of ecclesiastical silverware. Our past commissions have included silverware for all faiths and denominations. Examples of our work include a new chalice and paten for Canterbury Cathedral, a Verger’s Wand for St. Brides, Fleet Street and a new verge for Westminster Abbey to celebrate the 750th Anniversary of the re-building of the Abbey.

We are also pleased to undertake the sympathetic restoration of existing silverware for places of worship throughout the UK and beyond. Repairs over the last year have included the refurbishment of a 16th Century chalice, which had been used almost every week for the past 400+ years and yet, other than a few bumps and bruises that we repaired, was still in extremely good condition.

We provide a broad range of services including the replating of silver plated or gold plated church-ware, the straightening and debruising of damaged chalices and patens through to the full restoration of processional crosses, croziers and other large pieces.

Another facet of our business is the ability to reproduce replicas of silverware that has unfortunately been lost or stolen, working from photos and sometimes designs of the original pieces.
